About Qoya

Qoya classes are based on the idea that through movement we remember.

We remember our essence is wise, wild and free.

Wise: calling on the wisdom of yoga.
Wild: the creative expression in dance.
Free: expanding our capacity to enjoy being in our bodies through feminine movement.

There is no way that you can do Qoya wrong.

(I’ll repeat that.)

There is no way that you can do Qoya wrong! The way you know you’re doing it right is when it FEELS GOOD. But more than feeling good, that it feels true. Honest.

There are no movement levels in Qoya. We are all at the same level, whether you were there for the very first Qoya classes like I was, or you are brand new. The intensity of Qoya can also be easily adjusted to where you’re at in your body TODAY, making it ideal for women’s bodies which go through many different seasons in a day, a month, a year.

In addition to practicing yoga, dance, and feminine movement, we incorporate conscious intuition rituals and community connection throughout class to help you connect with other women and bring your voice into the room. Qoya is not only a movement class but an opportunity for you to check in with yourself, to feel the physical sensation of truth in your body and learn to follow it.

“Have you ever found yourself, for no apparent reason, dancing in your living room? You hadn’t planned it, but a song came on and all of a sudden, you just had to dance. No choreography. No judgement. Just raw, authentic movement.”

Qoya also helps us remember those things that can never be put into words. Like when you see a sunset and your whole body exhales. When you are on a road trip and feeling the sensation of adventure. When you get caught up in the contagious laughter of a child or feel the warmth of your lover’s body in bed while it is raining outside. The feeling of accomplishment when you completed work you are really proud of or when you catch up with an old friend and at the end of the conversation you really feel like everything is going to be ok.

Qoya is designed to feel how movement is a portal to remember, to feel our perspective shift from going through the motions to savoring life as sacred. Qoya does this through classes, workshops, rituals, retreats/pilgrimages, teacher trainings, offering free videos online, and a blog in hopes that all that feel the call to remember can be supported on their journey.
